Chelsea made it three wins from three Premier League games on Sunday with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Newcastle United.

The decisive action came late on with Eden Hazard converting a controversial 76th-minute penalty to open the scoring, only for Joselu to equalise seven minutes later.

However, Marcos Alonso's 87th-minute shot deflected off DeAndre Yedlin and past Martin Dubravka to give the Blues all three points.

Alvaro Morata would have been buoyed by last weekend's goal in the win over Arsenal but the forward failed to make a telling impact at St James' Park.

As Chelsea searched for a goal, he was substituted off, and some viewers spotted what happened between him and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Morata's display v Newcastle

Lining up alongside Pedro and Eden Hazard in Chelsea's front three, Morata worked hard but failed to register a single shot on target on Tyneside.

With the score at 0-0, Maurizio Sarri's first change was to replace the Spaniard in the 65th-minute for recent World Cup winner Olivier Giroud.

Loftus-Cheek, who spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, is at somewhat of a crossroads regarding his future and was involved in an unfortunate moment.

Morata unintentionally snubs Loftus-Cheek

Shortly after being taken off, Morata embraced Sarri as well as Carlo Cudicini and Francesco Zola before heading to the bench.

Loftus-Cheek didn't get on to the pitch against Newcastle and, in common fashion, he wanted to show his appreciation to Morata for his industrious efforts.

The 22-year-old reached out and attempted to high-five Morata, but as you can see below, it didn't turn out how he'd planned.

In the exact moment that Loftus-Cheek lent forward to high-five his teammate, Morata looked down and unknowingly completely aired the Englishman.

As some fans on Twitter noticed, Loftus-Cheek seemed a bit disappointed after failing to get the high-five, but he'll be even more concerned about his current role.

Loftus-Cheek's future at Chelsea

After an encouraging spell at Palace last term and a promising World Cup, the midfield talent is struggling to get regular starts under Sarri back at Chelsea.

The Blues host Bournemouth on Saturday, with Loftus-Cheek competing with N'Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and new signings Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic for game time.
