Wayne Rooney is now well and truly settled at DC United. After deciding to cut his Everton reunion short after just a single season, England's all-time top scorer made the move to Major League Soccer in a bid to slowly unwind his career.Rooney was the latest big name to play in America later in his career with players such as David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard taking similar paths.Eight appearances into his career in the US capital and Rooney has been enjoying a successful spell. The arrival of the Englishman marked a dramatic upturn in form at the club, ending a terrible run of form that saw them with just two wins in 14 matches.

Now with Rooney in their side, the black-and-reds have scored victories over the Vancouver Whitecaps, Colorado Rapids, Orlando City, Portland Timbers and New England Revolution.

And it was in the Orlando win that Rooney went viral for the most remarkable of assists in the dying moments of the game.

With the DC United goalkeeper abandoning his position and Orlando counterattacking, Rooney made a superb tackle and cross to see the club snatch a 3-2 win.

That performance, funnily enough, was followed up by another superb showing with the 33-year-old bagging two goals against Portland.

However, after all that positivity, Rooney has made the headlines in America for a very different reason this week.

DC United travelled to the New York Red Bulls over Monday night, eventually losing the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Alejandro Romero.

And their fans attracted plenty of attention for the tifo/banner they prepared for Rooney before the game and it was pretty brutal.

The huge display is starting to spread across Twitter and it's easy to see why - check it out below:

Of course, the banner reads: 'Bald eagles, an endangered species.'

Rooney's head is depicted on the eagle in the DC United badge, poking fun at the player's hairline which has been a topic of ridicule amongst supporters before.

The 33-year-old hasn't always been blessed in the scalp department and famously went public about a hair transplant back in 2011.

The procedure can cost thousands and despite its successful results at the time, Rooney's hairline has once again retreated in recent years.

Naturally then, New York fans just couldn't resist poking fun at DC United's prize new asset.

Rooney wasn't able to have the last laugh either with the home side running away victorious and he'll have to be comforted by the return to a home crowd on Thursday.

He'll be hoping the game against Philadelphia will bring more inspired assists and less jokes about his hair.
