Last week, Alan Shearer started a debate when he suggested that Sergio Aguero was the best foreign import the Premier League has ever seen. Many fans and pundits disagreed with Shearer’s suggestion with the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Sergio Aguero being mentioned. And there might be another debate starting up this week after Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were asked to name the best striker in Premier League history.Ahead of Monday Night Football, Carragher and Neville were asked a few questions from viewers - including the best striker England's top-flight has ever seen. And they disagreed."[Alan] Shearer or [Wayne] Rooney but I'd go Shearer," Neville answered immediately. But Carragher had a different name in mind. "Thierry Henry, do you not class him as a forward? Why would you not even mention him in there in your top two?” Carragher asked.Neville replied: “Just classic centre-forwards, I also think of centre-forwards as being - Shearer's goals were unbelievable."I'd have [Ruud] van Nistelrooy up there too to be fair, if we were naming the rest of them."

Interesting.

Of course, in 10 years or so, there could be another name in the mix - Harry Kane.

The Spurs forward, 25, has bagged 109 goals to date and needs another 151 strikes to reach Shearer’s goalscoring record in England’s top-flight.

But when you consider that Kane could realistically be playing in the Premier League for another 10 years, that tally certainly becomes achievable.

Then again, Romelu Lukaku - who has only scored seven fewer goals than Kane in the Premier League - could also be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Shearer, Rooney and Henry in years to come.
