SummerSlam is still fresh in the memory for WWE fans right now, but it seems that Vince McMahon himself has wasted little time in preparing for next year's edition.

Since 2015, the show has been held in New York, but in 2019, that's going to change.

A NEW VENUE

On Monday, WWE announced that "The Biggest Party of the Summer" will air live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto next year.

Not only will the venue in Ontario, Canada host SummerSlam, but it will also be home to NXT TakeOver the night before, and RAW and SmackDown Live on Monday and Tuesday.

The announcement came as pretty big news, considering it's the first time since 2004 that SummerSlam will be held outside the US - returning to Toronto once again.

But interestingly, there's a reason that WWE are sending the show to Canada in 2019 - and it involves WrestleMania.

TORONTO IS A TRAIL

According to Joe Peisich, who's been speaking on the latest installment of the Barnburner's Fired Up podcast, hosting SummerSlam at the Scotiabank Arena next year is a test.

WWE are reportedly planning on bringing WrestleMania to Canada in the near future, so next year's PPV is going to be a trial - to see if hosting the biggest show of the year there is achievable.

Peisich went on to say, per Ringside News, that WrestleMania 38 is being considered for Canada - and that would make sense, considering the news that was reported a few months ago.

THE BIGGEST EVENTS IN CANADA

Earlier this summer, it was revealed that WWE are planning to bring big events to Toronto every two years.

In 2017, it was Survivor Series, in 2019 it will be SummerSlam, so perhaps, WM38 could follow that.

If next year's PPV is a major success in Toronto, then we could soon see WrestleMania return to the city for the first time since 2002 - which is a very exciting prospect.
