This week's episode of RAW appeared to build towards a very interesting storyline involving Kevin Owens.

The Canadian star has had an awful time - and that's putting it lightly - since joining the red brand back in April.

THE GRASS ISN'T ALWAYS GREENER

Many of KO's problems have been at the hands of Braun Strowman.

In June, "The Monster" threw him off a ladder, in July he threw Owens off a cage and at SummerSlam earlier this month, he squashed him in less than two minutes.

But it's not just Strowman who's having success at KO's expense.

On Monday's episode of RAW, Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins announced an open challenge.

Owens was the man who answered - and after a bit of back and forth on the mic, the pair wrestled a brilliant match.

'I QUIT'

However, it was Rollins who pinned his challenger and escaped with the title... just.

But it was after the match that things got very interesting.

Rather than taking his latest defeat on the chin and heading to the back, Owens decided to sit it out in the center of the ring.

He sat in silence for almost five minutes, looking like a broken man, as RAW went to a commercial break.

When the show returned, KO took a few more seconds to himself, before announcing that he's quitting WWE.

A NEW DIRECTION - AND A NEW MOUTHPIECE

Of course, that's all part of the new storyline WWE are building for Owens - and if the latest reports are to be believed, it's going to be a brilliant one.

According to Joe Peisich, who's been speaking on the latest installment of Barnburner's Fired Up podcast, the struggling superstar could be brought back with Paul Heyman by his side.

That would be brilliant - but as KO is one of the best talkers in WWE right now, it doesn't make much sense.

Interestingly, Peisich (who was backstage at RAW in Toronto), has heard that Owens will be silent upon his return to WWE - and it will be Paul who does all the talking.

Now, that does sound very interesting and Heyman could be the advocate that KO needs to get himself back into the Universal title picture.

Of course, only time will tell if that's what WWE are actually planning with Kevin's latest storyline.
