On Monday, it was announced that Odell Beckham Jr had agreed a new five-year contract extension with the New York Giants. But, this wasn't just any old deal - instead, it's one that makes him the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.

GETTING PAID

Although the terms have not been officially disclosed, according to Sky Sports, the contract is worth around $95m (£73.5m) with £50m guaranteed.

Damn, that's an awful lot of money. Now, it's up to Beckham to prove that he's worthy of that kind of investment.

The three-time Pro Bowler is yet to feature so far in pre-season, as he's been holding out over a new deal.

Following the agreement, he's almost certain to play in the Giants regular season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars - and that will be some game.

HEAD TO HEAD

In fact, that's a clash that will put Beckham Jr head-to-head against one of the league's most outspoken defenders - Jalen Ramsey.

The cornerback, who's going into this third year, took the NFL by storm in 2017 and was a key part of the Jaguars team that reached the playoffs.

In less than two week's time, Ramsey will have a chance to match up against the Giants WR, as two of the most exciting players on offense and defense share the field.

ALL THE TALK

Naturally, much of the talk ahead of this week one clash between New York and Jacksonville has been just about those two players.

Some of that, unsurprisingly, has come from Jalen himself - as he's already established himself as one of the best talkers in the league.

Back in July, he promised the pair would put on "show" - after admitting that Odell is a "good receiver".

That's a pretty solid compliment coming from Ramsey, considering the 23-year-old burned pretty much half of the NFL's starting QBs in an interview last week.

But, with his head-to-head match-up with OBJ fast approaching, the cornerback has decided to switch his chat once again - and has been adding even more fuel to the fire.

BATMAN VS THE JOKER

Following the announcement of Beckham Jr's massive new deal, Ramsey wasted no time taking to Twitter to react to the news.

"It’s going to be a show very soon #BatmanVsTheJoker," he wrote.

Now, it's pretty safe to assume that Jalen is referring to himself as Batman - which makes Odell The Joker.

What he means by that is not actually clear - does Ramsey think that Beckham Jr and his new contract are a joke? Or is OBJ the villain in Jalen's latest story?

It could be either. But one thing is for sure - their clash on September 9 is certainly going to be one to watch.
