Stone Cold Steve Austin is a legend in WWE - so when he talks wrestling, we all sit up and take notice.

The Hall of Famer was the biggest star of the "Attitude Era" and after his retirement in 2002, has remained on good terms with the company.

Stone Cold sometimes still makes sporadic appearances at the biggest WWE shows and he recently featured on RAW 25 back in January.

ENJOYING THE SHOW

Despite not being involved at SummerSlam this year, Austin was still watching the events unfold and he's since been reflecting on what happened that weekend.

According to the legend, both NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV on Saturday and the actual SummerSlam PPV on Sunday were great - but one actually overshadowed the other.

"To me, my opinion, both shows [TakeOver and SummerSlam] delivered. I give a big thumb's up to both of them," Austin said, per Wrestling Inc.

"If I was to compare both of the shows, I would say I probably preferred the NXT show over the SummerSlam show, but I give them both a lot of credit."

As well as admitting that both events impressed him, Stone Cold went one step further and revealed what he thinks was the best match of the entire weekend.

It's fair to say his pick is pretty surprising.

STEALING THE SHOW

"My favorite match was a couple of tag team guys that I didn't know too much about. I had seen some of their individual work, but I hadn't seen their tag work," Austin continued.

"Probably my favorite match of the entire weekend was the NXT tag team title match [with] the champions, The Undisputed Era going against the Moustache Mountain guys.

"That was an awesome-ass tag team match. Goddang, dude, I've seen one of the best tag matches I've seen in a long ass time."

Wow. That's pretty high praise from a legend to a number of WWE's developing NXT stars. In fact, he singled out Tyler Bate for a special mention too.

RESPECTING THE TALENT

"Man, I thought everybody looked really, really good, but it seems that Tyler Bate, there's just something about that kid. He just has some kind of x-factor to him.

"To me, that Tyler Bate was just kind of the spark plug in this match, if you will."

For anyone that watched TakeOver, it's pretty hard to argue with anything Austin has said. His opinion is one shared by many WWE fans who watch NXT and the main roster shows.

But for those fans who don't follow NXT, if Stone Cold's endorsement doesn't get you watching, then nothing will.
