Second-half strikes from Ryan Garry and Michael Symes helped Bournemouth maintain their blistering start to the season as the Cherries secured a convincing 2-0 win over Carlisle.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Bournemouth roared into the lead moments after the interval when defender Garry reacted quickest to a Marc Pugh cross to nod home from close range.

The impressive Adam Smith - on debut after completing a loan move from Tottenham - helped the Cherries double their advantage just after the hour when he was brought down by Francois Zoko in the Carlisle box.

Michael Symes made no mistake from the spot to notch his second goal of the season and put the game beyond the reach of an out-of-sorts Carlisle, who were limited to a smattering of half-chances as Bournemouth clinically closed the game out.

The Cherries had chances to make it three, Anton Robinson squandering a decent chance with a tame header over from six yards, but the result - which firmly secures the Cherries' position in the early season play-off spots - was never in question.
