Life without Tom Brady for the New England Patriots will become a reality sooner rather than later for the franchise.Patriots fans get a glimpse of what life will be like without Brady every single preseason, and they got another look when the team played against the New York Giants last night.Rookie quarterback Danny Etling was under center in the game, and he certainly impressed the fans, especially on one touchdown play.In the fourth quarter of the game, Etling ran for an amazing 86-yard touchdown play to the delight of the Patriots fans at Foxborough.Patriots fans certainly haven't seen this kind of play from a quarterback in many years, as Brady is never usually this quick on the field.Even New England's head coach Bill Belichick cracked a joke about the run at the five-time Super Bowl champion's expense, while also praising Etling's work ethic and performance. He jokingly said per Tyler Sullivan of 247Sports: “When is the last time a quarterback ran for 85 yards on the Patriots? It’s like at least 20 years I know that."Maybe (Steve) Grogan? (Jim) Plunkett? That’s a long run though so.”While Etling might have had an impressive run, this will likely be the only highlight which Patriots fans see from him this season.

Brady is going to be starting as always this season, and Brian Hoyer will be the team's back up again, so the rookie quarterback is unlikely to see the field again this year.

While Brady isn't flashy with his legs, he's still one of the best quarterbacks in the league with his arm, which has taken the Patriots to the Super Bowl in the last two seasons.

He'll be looking to take New England to the big game for the third season in a row as he enters his 19th season in the NFL.
