August 18, 2018. Windsor Park, Belfast was the venue when former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury registered a unanimous points win over Francesco Pianeta in the second outing of his comeback.

The highlight quickly shifted to what transpired moments after the conclusion of the fight as Deontay Wilder entered the ring with Fury and the American coming face-to-face, disclosing a lucrative showdown between the pair as their next bout in the upcoming months.

Although both boxers intend to meet in the grandstand clash, neither the date nor the location have been finalised yet.

After an absence of three years, Fury is adamant to reclaim his lost glory as well as the titles, ready to challenge any fighter in the heavyweight division.

He asserted that Wilder’s WBC belt is the first one in his line of sight as he plans to knockout the American champion in Las Vegas later this year.

However, even if the boxing faithful remains in anticipation of an official announcement, the entire Fury v Wilder saga has not impressed one individual in particular.

It’s none other than Anthony Joshua!

Joshua, who is training presently to defend his IBF, WBA [Super], WBO titles against Alexander Povetkin on September 22, believes money is the prime motivation for The Gypsy King and not the silverware.

The unified heavyweight champion told Sky Sports, as per Daily Mail: “Tyson Fury's strategy is to put some money in the bank after a three-year lay-off.

“He'll continue talking rubbish as he does. In the long run, thunder strikes and it continues to strike.”

Joshua outright opposed the prospect of Fury v Wilder grabbing the spotlight away from everyone in the division.

He added: “It's not like they've stolen the limelight. There's enough on the table for everyone to eat, in my opinion.”

Asked if AJ sees his high-profile contest with Wilder happening in the future, the 28-year-old replied he understands the method adopted by the American ace in agreeing to fight Fury.

He is of the opinion that a victory against his compatriot would give Wilder more leverage in the negotiations with him.

“I know the strategy is for him to fight Fury after a three year lay-off. He's got a good chance of beating him,” Joshua continued.

“It will boost his profile so when he comes back to the negotiating table he will have a better leg to stand on.”

After months of failed negotiations in the past between AJ and The Bronze Bomber, both boxers are currently set out on different routes, but the world of boxing is optimistic of seeing the duo in action for the mega unification bout as early as in 2019, given they successfully defend their titles this year.
