Opportunities for Real Madrid fans to watch Vinicius Jr have been fairly limited so far.The forward, who only recently turned 18, seemed to impress Julen Lopetegui in pre-season but is yet to feature in La Liga.In the season opener against Getafe, he was left on the bench even with Los Blancos cruising to a comfortable 2-0 win. It's understandable that Lopetegui wants to ease him into life at the Bernabeu following his surprise €46million signing from Flamengo in May 2017.However, in some quarters he has even been talked up as the man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, though that won't be for some time yet even if the European champions are placing new emphasis on youth development. For now, he is finding his feet with Real Madrid Castilla, the club's B team.On debut, he put in a relatively quiet display against third-tier outfit Palmas Atletico but this weekend, things got a little tougher as Castilla went up against Atletico Madrid's B side. Was the teenager ready to step up? It appears he was and he quickly made his mark by sliding home past the goalkeeper following some decent dribbling in the box.It was his second of the day, though, scored from the outside of the box, that really got Real fans talking.

Vincius looks the part

He picked the ball up from the edge of the box, nudged it away from the defender and slammed in a net finish.

Understandably, the Brazilian has looked a little shy in his few outings so far and that ought to do his confidence the world of good.

Perhaps it won't be so long until we see him in the senior set-up after all.

Real fans are getting excited

“He’s part of the squad. When he’s called up he’ll be in with a chance of playing and when he’s not included, he’ll be able to play for Castilla," Lopetegui had previously said.

"However, he’ll be training with us on a daily basis. He’s very young and has just arrived in Europe. He’s really keen to learn and we’ve got to give him the time to settle that every player needs. His performance levels in training have been of the highest quality.

"We’re keeping a close eye on his progress and when we think that the time is right, he’ll be included in the matchday squad.”

Lopetegui was watching on in the stands and he'll no doubt have been very happy with what he saw.
