John Cena has been one of WWE's most successful stars over the last 15 years.

He's a 16-time World Champion - making him one of the most decorated wrestlers in the companies long history.

In his prime, he was often at the very top of the card, week in, week out. But more recently, Cena has turned away from WWE - pursuing an acting career.

A TRUE LEGEND

Of course, he still makes regular appearances for the company and has wrestled on a number of occasions in 2018.

Most of those matches came in the build-up to WrestleMania 34, where he eventually faced The Undertaker in a 'surprise' matchup.

After losing to The Phenom, he went on to the Greatest Royal Rumble event in April and beat Triple H - since then, "The Leader of the Cenation" hasn't been seen.

POLARISING FANS

Like many of WWE's other top superstars, Cena is a very polarising figure. In fact, that's an understatement.

Behind Roman Reigns, he's probably the second most hated 'face' in the company - but always brilliantly plays on the negative reaction he receives when in the ring.

It seems to be that fans either love Cena - as WWE hope, or hate him. There's no in between. Interestingly though, there's one former star that doesn't understand the hate.

NOT GETTING CREDIT

According to Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberton Del Rio in WWE), Cena doesn't get enough credit from the WWE Universe - and he explains why he feels that way.

"John Cena is fantastic, seriously. I hate when people don't give Cena the credit he deserves," El Patron told Chair Shots to the Cranium, per Wrestling Inc

"These days, unfortunately, some fans - not all the fans, but some fans - they think just because you can do 1,000 moonsaults and you can do spot after spot, they think that's pro wrestling.

"That's not real pro wrestling. If you can create that magic because you have the skills to take fans on a roller coaster of emotions, that's real pro wrestling, and there's no one better than Cena."

Coming from one of Cena's former in-ring rivals, that's pretty high praise - and it's hard to disagree with Alberto.

On top of that, he went on to say the matches he most enjoyed in WWE were with Cena - and suggested the 16-time champ taught him a lot.

ENJOYING HIS WORK WITH CENA

"I learned so much from him. That part about going out there having fun, hearing the crowd and trying different things to have a great match and entertain them," El Patron continued.

"I always enjoyed my time in that company in those matches with him."

Of course, Cena will always be a polarising figure in WWE - much like Reigns is right now. But there's no denying, he really is a true legend - and all of John's fellow stars believe that.
