Michael Symes scored twice as Bournemouth demolished Exeter 3-0 to move into second place with a superb performance.

Symes scored his first after only 95 seconds when the Exeter defence stood off the former Accrington striker and allowed him to shoot into the roof of the net with a left-footed shot from 15 yards.

Jamie Cureton went close to equalising with a volley before Bournemouth scored again on the half hour. Rhoys Wiggins crossed from the left and Marc Pugh scored from close range.

Exeter had plenty of chances with Richard Logan twice going close with headers and Ryan Harley bringing an outstanding diving save from home goalkeeper Shwan Jalal.

Paul Jones at the other end made a smart save from Pugh before Bournemouth got their third in the 68th.

Exeter defender Troy Archibald-Henville brought down Josh McQuoid to concede a penalty and Symes stepped up to blast home the spot-kick for his fourth goal of the season.
