Steven Gerrard may have lost just once in 13 matches since becoming Rangers boss but, the truth is, they are already seven points off the top of the Scottish Premiership. In fact, with just five points from their opening four league matches, this has been their worst start to an SPL season for 29 years. And last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby meant that the Gers will sit in seventh during the international break.Despite that, there is still belief that the club can challenge Celtic for the title this season. In fact, striker Kyle Lafferty had insisted that he and his teammates believe title number 55 is on its way this season.“It will be tough. Celtic have been champions for many years but we now have a squad that can compete,” Lafferty admitted.“Sunday was a disappointing result but with travelling and playing 38 minutes with nine men (in the Europa League) it was tough for us.“Obviously there is going to be no excuses for the performance we’ve put in and Celtic were probably the better team on the day but we are on a good road now and a good path and we’re going to kick on and we’ll be much closer to Celtic.

“Everyone in the Rangers dressing room believes that we’ll get 55 and that this will be the year we’ll win the league.”

It’s certainly a big shout and one that sparked plenty of reaction from Scottish football fans.

And one person that simply couldn’t resist responding was Chris Sutton.

Sutton spent six years at Celtic and is never too far away when debates arise concerning his former side and Rangers.

And he sent a simple four-word tweet after seeing Lafferty’s latest comment.

He’s probably summed up the thoughts of every Celtic fan there, to be fair.

Rangers haven’t won the SPL title since the 2010/11 season and Sutton clearly thinks their long wait will continue this season.
