Ray Allen was one of many icons inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame last night, and he will go down as one of the best shooters in NBA history.

Allen was part of the Class of 2018 that also featured Maurice Cheeks, Lefty Driesell, Grant Hill, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Dino Radja, Charlie Scott, Katie Smith, Tina Thompson, Rod Thorn, Ora Mae Washington, and Rick Welts.

The Boston Celtics legend finished his playing career as the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 2,973, which is 400 more than the next player on the list.

That next player on that list so happens to be another Hall of Famer in former Indiana Pacers star Reggie Miller, who Allen stated in his Hall of Fame speech on Friday was one of his idols growing up.

Allen said during his speech: "I know a lot has been said about me being a great shooter, being one of the best. But what I know, is this person that is presenting me tonight, Reggie Miller is the best shooter I have ever seen in my life."

The shooting guard credits Miller's competitive fire for motivating him earlier in his career, stating that it showed him the importance of work ethic towards any future success a player will have.

He said: "I would come out on the floor thinking I was early and he was already out there and Reggie had a Superman shirt on. And when you see your opponent with a Superman shirt on, you have to ask yourself, 'How do I beat Superman tonight?'"

Allen broke Miller's record of 2,560 3-pointers made in February 2011, which must have been a big moment in his career considering he was passing one of his idols in a stat line which he excelled in.

During his playing career, Allen also won two NBA titles, one with the Celtics in 2008 and one with the Miami Heat in 2012. He was also named an All-Star three times with three different teams, including with the Seattle SuperSonics.
