Although Thursday night's opening game of the 2018 NFL season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons wasn't a historic encounter, there was one play which many people won't forget anytime soon. After a slow start to the game, the Eagles came alive in the third quarter of the clash thanks to a special play which they have now called 'Philly Philly'.Similar to the Philly Special play from the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots earlier this year, this play was actually a direct copy of a play Tom Brady was involved in earlier on in the big game back in February. On Atlanta's 41-yard line, Nick Foles took the shotgun snap and handed it to Corey Clement. Clement went left as Foles went right.Clement then pitched the ball to receiver Nelson Agholor, who completed the 15-yard pass to Foles. This play was different to the one performed by the Patriots in the Super Bowl, as Brady dropped the pass attempt by Danny Amendola on that occasion.New England also ran the play with one running back and two tight ends, while Philadelphia used one running back and one tight end on Thursday night.

Good execution wins games

On Friday, the Patriots quarterback was asked about the play by the Eagles in their win against the Falcons.

Brady said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN: “Good execution wins games. I think that’s ultimately what we have to do. When you have to make the plays, you either make them or you don’t.”

While the play on Thursday brought the Eagles to life and helped them win the game, Brady will be hoping he can achieve a win for the Patriots this weekend as well when they take on the Houston Texans in their season opener.

The New England quarterback will be entering his 19th season in the NFL at the age of 41 after passing for 4,577 yards and 32 touchdowns while winning the MVP award last season.
