Jose Mourinho's job is still under threat at Manchester United.

The Portuguese manager has endured a tough start to the Premier League season, with Man United currently in 10th place having picked up six points from their opening four games.

But Mourinho seems to think his position as boss is currently secure.

“They say I’m in danger, but I don’t think it," he told Italian reporters last weekend, per talkSPORT.

“If they send me away, do you have any idea how much money they would have to give me?!”

But who would United go for if they were to move on from Mourinho?

One of the biggest names in world football at the moment that is currently without a job is former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with the job in the past few weeks and it is believed he would be interested in taking over from Mourinho.

He has even told friends he expects a call from Old Trafford chiefs if they were to cast Mourinho aside.

And now further reports have emerged linking Zidane with the job.

The Mirror write that Zidane has been placed on standby if Mourinho were to leave his post.

With Zidane closely linked with the job, he has now put together a shortlist of players he would like to sign.

And he's aiming very high indeed.

The Mirror have written that Toni Kroos, Thiago Alcantara, James Rodriguez and Edinson Cavani are the four big names that Zidane would be interested in taking to Old Trafford.

It seems he's aiming very high indeed.

Kroos and Thiago have proven himself as two of the best midfielders in world football.

Rodriguez will be an unbelievable acquisition to play behind the striker, while Cavani would guarantee goals were he to sign.

It goes without saying that signing any one of these four names would seriously bolster United's squad.

The report goes on to state that Zidane has a burning ambition to manage in the Premier League and becoming manager at United would complete the dream.

And it adds that United are aware the Frenchman won’t be a free agent for ever.

It seems that United won't hesitate to call on Zidane were Mourinho to leave - and he'll look to bring a few massive names in football with him to Old Trafford.
