The future of NXT star Velveteen Dream appears to be uncertain right now.

For months, rumours have suggested that he's going to be called up to the main roster - but that just hasn't happened yet.

NO CALL-UP YET

In fact, at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV last month, Dream wore tights that read "Call Me Up Vince" - as he sent a clear message to the WWE boss.

But it's been almost a month now and the talented star is still grinding it out on the developmental brand and actually, there was some suggestion that his message to McMahon may have been why.

According to a number of journalists, Dream took a lot of heat for the tights he wore at TakeOver. To add fuel to that fire, a few weeks later, he was confirmed to wrestle at a non-WWE event.

EVOLVE APPEARANCE

Over the weekend, that finally happened, as Dream appeared at an EVOLVE show, stepping out of WWE for one night.

However - after hearing what he had to say following his match, it's clear that this was no punishment from McMahon - as some had suggested.

Instead, Friday night saw Dream return to the "Maryland Championship Wrestling Arena" where he got his first start in wrestling - and he had a special message for the crowd there.

DREAM GETS EMOTIONAL

"All the Dream can say tonight is thank you" he began, whilst strutting around the ring following his match.

"The Dream is not worthy. He's this good but you guys are even better. EVOLVE is an amazing promotion. It is the grandchild promotion of the WWE if I say."

As well as sending an emotional thanks to the crowd, Dream also called upon Austin Theory, who he'd just had a match with, to join him in NXT.

"The guy the Dream just beat down out here, that dude back there… I’m sure you’ll be seeing a rematch between Austin Theory and the Dream somewhere in NXT, I can almost guarantee it."

That's a very interesting shout, considering Austin had a tryout with WWE earlier this year.

As Dream was calling on him to move to NXT, it seems less of a message to Theory himself, and more perhaps one aimed towards Triple H and WWE, telling them to sign him.

Very interesting indeed. But only time will tell if HHH listens to one of his star wrestlers.
