The best moments in pro-wrestling are usually the ones that involve a big star turning - either to become a face or heel.

The transition period is very exciting - as WWE fans often think about seeing their favourite good guy turn bad, or vice versa.

THE BEST TURNS OF 2018

Of course, to keep things fresh, this happens a lot - and 2018 has been no exception because we've seen some great turns.

One came at WrestleMania 34, when Shinsuke Nakamura hit AJ Styles with a low blow after their bout - and he's been a villain ever since.

Something similar happened a few weeks ago, when Braun Strowman turned on Roman Reigns - in an attempt to get his hands on the Universal Championship.

But perhaps the hottest turn of the year so far came at SummerSlam.

BECKY TURNS BAD

After Charlotte Flair picked up the SmackDown Women's title in a triple threat against Becky Lynch and Carmella, The Irish Lasskicker beat down her former "best friend" moments later.

Lynch cemented her turn by continuing to attack Flair in the following weeks, and she now possesses a new attitude, and it's one that fans absolutely love.

Interestingly though, it may not have always been WWE's plan to turn Becky heel - because according to Bryan Alvarez, it was supposed to happen to another SmackDown star instead.

A NIXED HEEL TURN

Speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, the journalist revealed that there was actually a plan to turn Asuka heel before the situation completely changed.

"They’ve been talking about Asuka going heel for a while now but then they ended up turning Becky, so maybe they won’t turn her," Alvarez revealed, per Ringside News.

"They had been talking about it and then something else happened."

It's interesting to hear that WWE had big plans for Asuka, especially considering she's only recently returned to SmackDown after a month off.

FITTING BACK IN

She was once an unstoppable force - carrying an undefeated streak from NXT all the way until WrestleMania 34 - but now it seems Asuka is struggling to find space on SmackDown.

Surely though, if WWE did originally have these big plans, it won't be long until we see The Empress of Tomorrow back in the title picture - as a face, or perhaps, even as a heel too.
