The first Monday Night Football of the season returned last night, and it saw the Oakland Raiders host the Los Angeles Rams in Primetime. Unfortunately, though, the game was far from competitive.

RAMS SQUASH RAIDERS

It was Jared Goff and co. who ruined Jon Gruden's NFL return, as Los Angeles exploded into life in the second half of the game.

After two quarters, it was actually the Raiders who had a lead, going into halftime 13-10 up.

But the Rams put up 23 unanswered points across quarters three and four, comfortably running out 33-13 winners in the end.

HAVE A DAY

Over the course of the game, Goff threw two touchdown passes, while running back Todd Gurley took a shovel pass to the house from the 19-yard line.

Interestingly though, the play of the game came from a defensive player, Marcus Peters.

On his debut for LA, the cornerback intercepted Raiders QB Derek Carr right in midfield, before taking the ball all the way into the end zone for a pick-six.

That's certainly not a bad way to introduce yourself to the Rams fans and fellow teammates.

But what he did to celebrate the score caught even more attention than the interception itself.

TROLLING LYNCH

After bursting towards the goal line, Peters went airborne, backsplashing into the end zone.

That celebration definitely wasn't a coincidence, considering Marshawn Lynch was on the opposite team.

Beast Mode is the one that's made that plunge famous, but last night, it was Peters who called game in the fourth quarter, completely disrespecting the Raiders RB in his own house.

Epic. Check it out below.

It's a good job that the Rams don't share a division with Oakland because that kind of disrespect is something Lynch is unlikely to forget anytime soon.

Interestingly though, NFL fans on Twitter were quick to point out that Peters missed one key part of the move...Marshawn’s flex.

Still, it's not a bad effort.

MOVING ON

After an impressive win in Oakland, the Rams next face the Arizona Cardinals on their own patch.

They'll be looking to move 2-0 at the expense of Steven Wilks and his team, who were beaten by the Washington Redskins in their opening fixture.

Gruden will take his Raiders to Denver next Sunday - but facing the Broncos in the 'Mile High City' is no easy task.

Only time will tell if the coach can get his team rolling in week 2.
