In October, SmackDown will be celebrating a very special anniversary. The blue brand will reach episode number 1000 - so expect a massive party when it airs live from Washington, DC on the 23rd.

ANOTHER PARTY

Back in January, RAW also celebrated a big birthday, as it turned 25.

That night (Jan 22nd, to be precise), turned into a huge celebration, as WWE stars of the past and present mixed for one night only.

Expect to see something very similar next month and although SmackDown's 1000th episode isn't quite as big as RAW25, Vince McMahon will still be pulling out all the stops.

LEGENDS RETURN

Obviously, WWE won't be able to celebrate the history of their show without inviting back some stars of the past.

There's one huge name that fans are desperate to see make an appearance - and he's the man that's synonymous with the brand.

That of course, is The Rock. In news that will surely excite fans, he is apparently close to agreeing on a deal to appear, although we probably won't know for sure until the night.

But Rocky isn't the only legend that's expected to return.

ANOTHER HALL OF FAMER RETURNS?

Earlier this week, PW Insider claimed that Edge has been booked to appear on SmackDown 1000.

That's absolutely huge news - as fans completely pop whenever they see the Rated R Superstar in WWE.

However, it seems that we shouldn't be getting too excited yet - because the man himself has weighed in.

THE RESPONSE

Following the breaking news, Edge took to Twitter to have his say on these rumours - and it looks like nothing has been confirmed yet.

"Huh, news to me," he wrote, in response to someone tweeting that he will be appearing on SD.

His message completely contradicts the earlier report - and now we don't know what to believe!

Could Edge just be trying to keep his return quiet? Or was the PW Insider report completely wide of the mark? We just don't know.
