Fabinho is yet to make a single appearance since joining Liverpool from Monaco in a £43.7m deal this summer.

However, the versatile midfielder did impress at right-back in Brazil's 2-0 win over USA on Thursday night.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had previously suggested that Fabinho needs time to adjust to the Premier League but his debut is surely coming soon.

The Reds are set to host PSG in their Champions League opener next week - a team Fabinho knows very well.

In 2017, PSG reportedly tried to sign the 24-year-old defensive midfielder after he helped Monaco to an unlikely Ligue 1 title.

Speaking ahead of their tasty Champions League meeting at Anfield, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel revealed how he's trying to convert Marquinhos into a 'number 6'.

The Brazilian international has spent his whole career as a defender but is currently learning a new role at the Parc des Princes.

Tuchel identified four of the best defensive midfielders, including Fabinho, who sacrifice themselves for the team.

"A player who sacrifices himself willingly is really important," said Tuchel, as per the Mirror.

"We see that with players like Casemiro, Fabinho, N'Golo Kante and Sergio Busquets, this is what sets this position apart.

"I think that Marquinhos has a lot of the qualities that make his predestined to play in this role."

Casemiro, Kante and Busquets are regarded as some of the best midfielders on the planet - so it shows just how highly Tuchel rates Fabinho.

Tuchel added: "I am not 100% satisfied with the summer transfer window, to be honest with you, it was no secret that we were looking for a no.6.

"We were looking to replace Thiago [Motta] and his personality. For a no.6 at PSG, you need talent and a very big personality. We could not do it - in the end, we ran out of time."

It's a good thing Liverpool moved quickly for Fabinho because it sounds like Tuchel would've liked to bring him to Paris.

Fabinho, who spent his last five years in France, could be set to make his debut against PSG next week.
