Jeff Hardy has had a mildly-successful run as a singles competitor since his move to SmackDown Live this past April.

Returning to the WWE in April 2017 with his brother, Matt Hardy, the Hardy Boyz captured the Raw Tag Team Championships in a Ladder match at WrestleMania.

But Jeff suffered a shoulder injury last September, keeping him out of action for seven months.

Whilst his brother became 'Broken', and then teamed up with Bray Wyatt, Jeff returned as his own entity, successfully taking the United States title off Jinder Mahal before making the move to Tuesday night television.

But after losing the belt to Shinsuke Nakamura at Extreme Rules, a new feud was started with Rand Orton, and the two will battle inside Hell in a Cell at the namesake pay-per-view this Sunday.

And the 'Charismatic Enigma' himself has claimed that it's going to be 'a very memorable Jeff Hardy match', so what he has planned is anyone's guess.

During a WWE media call this past week, Hardy was asked about the upcoming Cell match with Orton, and he strongly suggested we could see a character from the past make an appearance.

“I kind of feel like me wearing the face paint now, and breaking out the white contacts - it’s like a modified version of Brother Nero," said Hardy.

"And that might take a completely drastic turn this Sunday at Hell In A Cell.”

“I might really go all out as Brother Nero. And who knows?

You might even see Willow. He may pop up here. From the Broken Universe, anything is possible.”

Brother Nero is of course the popular alter-ego of Hardy from his partnership in TNA Wrestling with Broken Matt Hardy, but Willow was a black-and-white painted bundle of energy that encapsulated Jeff's bizarre side.

If we see either of the two come out to play inside or outside the demonic structure, Hardy could make this match 10 times more interesting than it already is.
