He might not do it as comfortably as last year, but Lewis Hamilton is on track to win his fifth Formula 1 championship this season.

The Mercedes star - who has helped his team build a 25-point lead over Ferrari in the constructors’ standings - looks back on form after enduring a patchy run up until he retired from the Austrian Grand Prix.

That said, Hamilton has failed to secure a podium finish on only three occasions in 2018.

On top of that, the 33-year-old has won six races including three of the last four to give him a handy buffer over rival Sebastian Vettel.

The German has one less win under his belt this season, despite enjoying a power advantage over the Silver Arrows.

Bearing that in mind, Hamilton feels he and the team just need to keep on keeping on.

“At the moment there’s no reason to change,” he said, per the Guardian.

“There are a lot of points still available so the approach is exactly the same as it has been all year long. It seems to be working.”

There aren’t really grounds to criticise Hamilton given the manner in which he’s defending his title.

However, one aspect of his life has drawn attention due to its supposed potential to distract from succeeding on the track.

It’s no secret Hamilton loves fashion - the man does have his own clothing line made by Tommy Hilfiger.

So, it should hardly be surprising he jetted off to London, Shanghai and New York to cool off following his victory at Monza.

Yet once again, his return to the circuit at the Singapore Grand Prix was met with the question of whether he can juggle his day job and so many other commitments.

HAMILTON'S RESPONSE

In response, Hamilton said: “From experience I’ve been able to move around even more than I have these past two weeks and still arrive and be able to switch into race mode.

“There’s not a single moment during those two weeks that I’m not thinking about racing, not thinking about the championship, how I want to arrive. Make sure, knowing that we’re coming to a difficult race, that you need to see if you can bring more. There’s not a moment that I don’t think about it.

“I get a lot of energy from these different things that I do.

“I find it stimulating and I think you’ll see that my results have shown that for the past several years.”

Apart from Hamilton himself, Mercedes obviously have faith in his capacity to remain a leading driver, so don’t expect him to be skipping fashion shows anytime soon.
