What a revelation Mohamed Salah was last season.
The mesmeric Egyptian took the Premier League and Champions League by storm netting on a staggering 44 occasions for the Reds.
He also proved himself to be one of the bargains of the century with Liverpool only shelling out £36 million for the speedster.
Salah claimed just about every individual honour he could in the process as well, as Liverpool fell painfully short of claiming a sixth European cup in Kiev.
Alongside Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, Salah formed part of one of the most potent attacking forces on the continent and it showed as they scored goals for fun.
While it wasn’t enough to secure any much-craved silverware for Jurgen Klopp’s side, it certainly raised expectation levels going into this season.
However, for players like Danny Ings, the scintillating form of that terrifying trio only meant one thing; limited game time.
Ings endured a truly horrendous time with injuries during his Liverpool career and it is no surprise that he never managed to nail down a starting spot.
Despite that, he was always a much-loved member of the squad and many a staff member and player were sad to see the Englishman leave on the last day of the summer transfer window.
One player in particular, was Salah.
In an interview with the BBC Ings revealed the hilarious bet he has made with Salah with regards to who will score the most goals between the two this season.
“When I left he sent me a message and said ‘Let’s have a competition between me and you starting from now’.
“So obviously I laughed it off but he said ‘no no, let’s make a bet.’
“So for a joke I said, well if I win you owe me half of Egypt and if you win I owe you a Costa, because he loves his Costa’s.”
Hardly seems a fair bet but Liverpool fans will love how confident Salah is about his goalscoring in the coming months.
If Salah can replicate his incredible form from last season, Liverpool really could be in with a chance of finally challenging for the league.
