Ever since he made an appearance at the Royal Rumble, it was widely considered for some time that Rey Mysterio would be returning to the WWE for more than just a one-off match.

One of the reasons why the deal didn't happen immediately though was due to disagreements over his contract with the company, as The Master of the 619 wanted to wrestle on a part-time deal.

However, in recent weeks, especially following Mysterio's involvement at All In, there were talks of him returning to the WWE very soon.

Speaking as a guest on The Apter Chat with Bill Apter, via Rajah, Mysterio addressed the rumours of his WWE return, of it being a sure thing and happening any time now.

Rey denied the reports that his WWE return was just around the corner, stating that it's not locked in at all.

He said: "We got to keep in mind that rumors will always be rumors. There's nothing locked in. There's nothing secure that says that I am going back.

"I'm doing what I'm doing right now. I'm enjoying my independent wrestling life. I get to choose and pick when I want to wrestle, where I want to wrestle. If I want matches, like were just mentioned versus Kenny [Omega], I'm going to make them happen, if it's possible.

"There's no insurance or security right now that I am going back. I'll tell you what though, if the time is right and there's an agreement on both ends, meaning WWE and myself, and there's an offer on the table, I wouldn't say no. If it's correct. If it's the right one.

"But in the meantime, I'm still enjoying my liberty out here in independent wrestling."

If Mysterio was to return to WWE, his comeback wouldn't be undervalued, as a superstar as popular as him could easily be inserted into a top feud on either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live.

The Master of the 619 might get lost in the shuffle on Raw, so it would probably better for him to compete on SmackDown.

Here, he could have great feuds with the likes of AJ Styles, as well as help elevate future stars like Andrade Cien Almas.
