There's lot of optimism surrounding the future of Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid.

He was just 16 years old when Real Madrid decided to spend €46 million on his services; a world record fee paid for a player under the age of 19.

He officially joined Madrid this summer when he turned 18 and it was hoped he would get a chance to shine for the first team from the outset.

But that has not happened. The Brazilian youngster has so far failed to make an appearance in La Liga despite impressing in pre-season.

Vincius has instead been picked for Real Madrid Castilla, who play their matches in the Segunda Division B.

He helped the side to an opening day win against Las Palmas, before scoring both goals in their draw to Atletico Madrid B the week after.

It was clear he was too good for the league in that game; and his performance against Unionistas on Sunday afternoon proved that once again.

The 18-year-old showed his talent with a very clever free-kick to score in the first-half.

With the free-kick just a couple of yards outside of the box, Vinicius knew it would be a tough ask to get the ball up and down over the wall.

Vinicius may is still awaiting his first appearance for Real Madrid's first team, but that could change soon

So he instead chose to go to the goalkeeper's side - and it worked to perfection.

Knowing that the opposition goalkeeper would be unsighted, Vinicius struck a measured free-kick which curled just inside the post.

The goalkeeper saw it late and, even though it was not very powerful, he could not prevent the ball from nestling in the back of the net.

Beautiful from Vinicius. He's too good for the second division of Spanish football and that just proves it.

The Brazilian expressed his talent further in the game with a lovely bit of skill leading up to his side's second goal.

The game would eventually finish 3-0 to Castilla with Vinicius playing a starring role.

Real Madrid fans can't wait to see him play for the first team and his performance on Sunday will only make them even more eager.

Given Real Madrid's first team could only draw 1-1 against Atletico Bilbao on Saturday, Lopetegui may well be ruing his decision not to include Vinicius in his match day squad.

Maybe his performance against Unionistas has convinced to start selecting him for the first team.
