Barcelona maintained their 100% start to the 2018-19 La Liga season on Saturday with a hard-fought win away to Real Sociedad.

The hosts took a 12th-minute lead but quickfire goals from Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele ensured Barca left with all three points.

After a tough World Cup, Lionel Messi has enjoyed an excellent start the campaign, registering four goals and two assists in just four matches so far.

The Argentine didn't have too many chances to score against Sociedad but played a key role in dropping into midfield to help his team control possession.

Having refreshed the squad this summer, Barca are brimming with talent, but there's one player that Messi believes knows him better than anyone else.

Messi, now into his 15th season in Barcelona's senior team, has played alongside and won several trophies with many members of the current side for years.

Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez all spring to mind, but according to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, one other teammate stands out.

In an interview with Catalunya Radio over the weekend, Messi singled out Jordi Alba when asked about the best performers this term and hailed their unique partnership.

"Jordi Alba knows me to perfection", said Messi, via Barcelona's website. "He knows when I will give him a no-look pass. I have a special connection with him."

So, Messi thinks that Alba knows him to perfection, and anyone who's watched the Catalan giants regularly over the past few years will surely agree.

The 31-year-old and the Spanish left-back seem to have somewhat of a telepathic understanding and have combined on multiple occasions to devastating effect.
