Dimitri Payet is a footballer capable of producing moments of magic that 99% of his colleagues could only dream of.The 31-year-old attacker returned to Marseille in January 2017 after a memorable 18-month spell at West Ham.And he's unquestionably the star man at the Stade Velodrome.Payet recently came second behind Cristiano Ronaldo in UEFA's 2017/18 Goal of the Season poll. The Marseille captain scored a stunning outside-of-the-boot goal against RB Leipzig in the Europa League quarter-final back in April. But he went one better with his goal against Guingamp on Sunday night. On Saturday night, Zlatan Ibrahimovic posted his contender for the FIFA Puskas Award during LA Galaxy's 5-3 defeat to Toronto. And Payet took less than 24 hours to respond with a jaw-dropping goal of his own.Marseille were beating Guingamp 1-0 when a headed clearance fell into the path of the French international on the left flank.Instincts took over and Payet crashed home a glorious side-foot volley from 30 yards out.

Unbelievable strike - you rarely see a ball hit that well.

Gareth Bale is the favourite to win the 2017/18 Puskas award but Payet may fancy his chances for next year's edition.

Sadly, the Marseille star was left out of France's 23-man World Cup squad after suffering an injury in the Europa League final defeat to Atletico Madrid.

But Didier Deschamps simply cannot rule him out of future France squads if keeps scoring bangers like these.

"Payet was a serious candidate for a position in the 23," Deschamps said after naming his squad.

"He played the first half-hour of the Europa League final and his situation worsened. It will take him at least three weeks to recover from this injury.

"There is a significant risk of a recurrence for a muscle tear. When considering my deadlines, unfortunately for Dimitri, it will not be possible."

Payet will begin his Europa League campaign on Thursday night when Marseille host Eintracht Frankfurt.
