After winning the Golden Boot at the World Cup this summer, Harry Kane entered the Premier League season as the firm favourite to wrestle back the Premier League Golden Boot crown from Mohamed Salah.Kane was prevented from winning the accolade for a third consecutive season by Salah last campaign, despite the Spurs striker notching 30 goals in the league. But his quest to win the 2018/19 Golden Boot hasn’t got off to the best of starts. He may have broken his August duck but Kane has scored just twice in his five outings for Spurs this campaign. And it’s led to many fans and pundits questioning his fitness, with performance levels seemingly a lot lower than what we’re used to.Many believe that Kane looks tired and needs a rest after he rushed back from an ankle injury towards the end of last season. However, the Premier League’s greatest ever goalscorer Alan Shearer doesn’t necessarily agree with that.

SHEARER DISAGREES THAT KANE IS 'TIRED'

While Shearer agrees that Kane has looked leggy, he’s suggested that Kane is merely out of form.

"When I was still playing, the suggestion anybody might be tired never came into the equation,” Shearer wrote in his column in The Sun. “And particularly not when you were just 25 years old.

“It makes me wonder whether if people keep saying it, you start to believe it yourself. I could maybe understand if tiredness was mentioned around Christmas. Yet we are only in the middle of September.

“Kane, however, has not looked fresh for some time — and once again on Saturday during a woeful Spurs performance in defeat to Liverpool he looked very leggy.

“Some Spurs fans may even tell you this has been the case for a while now.

“So what does Kane do to reverse this? He just has to trust in his ability. Trust the tide will turn.

“And stop listening to people telling you that you’re tired.”

Shearer has a good point.

Sometimes fatigue can be more mental than physical and Kane probably feels a lot more tired due to everyone suggesting he is.

As soon as he starts banging in the goals again, everyone will no doubt forget about Kane’s ‘tiredness’.

Kane will just be hoping he can do just that as Spurs take on Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.
