Liverpool continued their excellent start to the season with a 2-1 win away at Tottenham on Saturday lunchtime.

Jurgen Klopp's side are top of the table with an 100% record but are due to face PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Reds outplayed Spurs at Wembley and - despite the scoreline - it was a relatively comfortable victory.

Georginio Wijnaldum opened the scoring with his first ever Premier League away goal before Roberto Firmino doubled Liverpool's advantage.

Erik Lamela scored a late consolation goal but Spurs were unable to find an equaliser.

“The performance today, for me, was better than the result,” said Klopp, as per the Liverpool Echo.

“It was the best game of the season for us, for sure. In all the games, we have had some really good moments, but today we had 85 brilliant minutes."

Spurs 1-2 Liverpool analysis

A YouTuber, named Piotr Foot, has created a superb video explaining exactly how Liverpool's pressing worked to perfection against Tottenham.

Klopp must give the players meticulous instructions for when the opponents are in possession.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville would be proud to deliver this level of analysis.

Liverpool are expected to beat Southampton at home in their next Premier League outing but face Chelsea and Manchester City in the two following league fixtures.

Set to face PSG and Napoli too, Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Liverpool's tough run of fixtures gives them the platform to prove themselves as one of the best sides in Europe.

"We know it's going to be difficult. We are playing world-class opposition every single game we've got until probably the next internationals," said Alexander-Arnold after the win at Spurs.

"So, performing week in and week out is a must, and getting those results that we need to show that we are one of the best teams in Europe."
