Burnley FC are competing in the Premier League for the third consecutive season. The Clarets entered the Europa League this season after Sean Dyche secured an impressive 7th placed finish. It's the first time they've played in Europe since the 1967/68 campaign. However, Burnley have started the season in dismal form and currently lie bottom of the Premier League table. They've lost four of their five opening league fixtures and were deservedly beaten 1-0 by Wolves on Sunday. On Monday, Burnley's post on Twitter angered their fans even further. They could have used common sense and deleted the tweet - but it was still there 24 hours after being posted.

Burnley's 'disgraceful' tweet

The Premier League is arguably the most lucrative football league in the world - every club is worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

So fans were outraged when Burnley posted a job advertisement on Twitter looking for 'Match Day Heroes'.

'Match Day Heroes' appears to just be another term for a 'steward'.

Burnley are hoping to recruit people to work on match-days at Turf Moor but, incredibly, have no intention of paying them any money.

Fans on social media were understandably outraged.

The Burnley 'job description' specifies: "Our Match Day Heroes will be helping thousands of people find their turnstiles and giving other directions, so probably won’t get to see much, if any, of the match!”

Surely they won't receive any serious applications.

Many charities need help. Burnley FC are not a charity - they are a multi-million pound business encouraging people to volunteer for them instead.

Burnley are one of 16 Premier League clubs that do not pay the living wage to all their staff.
