Liverpool’s match against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night well and truly lived up to expectations. The two sides played out a pulsating encounter at Anfield which ended in a 3-2 victory for the home side.Jurgen Klopp’s men started the game the stronger of the two sides and went 1-0 up through Daniel Sturridge.James Milner converted from the penalty spot six minutes later to double their lead.Thomas Meunier halved the deficit five minutes before half-time and the game looked as if it would end all-square as Kylian Mbappe struck seven minutes from time. However, Roberto Firmino, who started the game on the bench after sustaining an eye injury against Tottenham on the weekend, struck home in the final minutes to give Liverpool a 3-2 victory. What a game. One man who impressed throughout the match was Trent Alexander-Arnold.The youngster has gone from strength to strength in the past few seasons. He has firmly established himself as Liverpool’s first choice right-back, but he had a tough task on the night dealing with PSG’s front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani. But he dealt with their threat masterfully. He put in an assured performance which saw his side emerge victorious.Gary Lineker was working for BT Sport during the game and he sent a rather interesting tweet about Alexander-Arnold towards the end of the final whistle. The England international said he could see the Liverpool star playing 100 times for England - but in midfield.“Young @trentaa98 is special,” he wrote. “Can see him playing a 100 games for England....in midfield.”

Wow. That is some claim. He may well have a point, though.

It is believed at Liverpool that Alexander-Arnold will eventually make the step up to midfield.

He clearly has the technical ability and could thrive if played there.

The tweet, however, has caused a major stir with football fans.

There are those that agree with Lineker’s claim.

But there are some that completely laughed them off.

It’ll be interesting to see how his role in the Liverpool team evolves in the future.

He has proved himself to be a tremendous right-back, one of the best in the Premier League in fact, but like Lineker says, his best role may well be in midfield.
