What a night it was for Liverpool at Anfield.French champions PSG rolled into town with their terrifying trio of Neymar Kylian Mbappe and Edison Cavani in tow but were met by a formidable Red wave in the opening minutes.European nights under the lights at Liverpool’s famous stadium never fail to deliver, and last night was no different. There was an unbelievable array of attacking talent on show, and so it was no surprise that there were goals a-plenty.PSG would have been confident of stealing three points from Merseyside - especially after Roberto Firmino was forced to take up a spot on the bench following his eye injury at the weekend. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side roared out of the blocks and were 2-0 up and cruising inside 36 minutes.PSG can never be written off though, pulling one back just before half-time to leave the game teetering on the edge. And, after an enthralling second half that saw Liverpool dominate again, PSG found an equaliser when Mbappe blazed home from short range following a Mohamed Salah error in midfield. The blistering Anfield atmosphere was well and truly scorched as they saw three points slipping through their fingers.Step up Bobby Firmino.Having come off the bench, the Brazilian rifled home in stoppage time after turning the Parisian’s defence inside out to send the Kop into meltdown. The result means that Liverpool have won six on the bounce at the start of the season, laying down quite the marker to their opponents. After the game, fan favourite Andrew Robertson was interviewed with goalscorer Daniel Sturridge who thanked the Scotsman for what was a lovely assist.Knowing just how good the cross was, Roberston simply couldn’t resist making a sneaky little comment that was caught by the BT Sport microphone.

Brilliant.

Robertson told Sturridge, “Well you couldn’t miss!” after he thanked him.

Sturridge also revealed that the Robertson may even have a friendly assist competition going on with teenage right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold which just goes to show the wonderful team spirit Klopp has cultivated.

The Reds face Southampton next before a season-defining run of fixtures against Chelsea, Napoli and Manchester City.
