Liverpool started as they mean to go on in the Champions League on Tuesday night with a well-deserved 3-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Having squandered a 2-0 lead, the Reds managed to seal three points in stoppage time thanks to Roberto Firmino's strike.

Liverpool dominated the game from start to finish and it would have been an injustice had PSG come away from Anfield with a point.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp hailed his players for a complete performance against one of Europe's finest.

"It was good, really good in all departments pretty much," said the German manager. "It is so tough to defend them, but we did.

"Good organisation and a big heart is always a good combination for defending. All 11 players were involved in that.

"A good performance against an outstandingly strong opponent; it was necessary we played good. The atmosphere was fantastic, so special to do these things in this stadium. It was nice."

LIVERPOOL MAKE PERFECT START

Daniel Sturridge, James Milner and Firmino were the goalscorers for Liverpool, while Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all had solid games.

However, according to French newspaper L'Equipe, some of Liverpool's players weren't nearly as good as people have made out.

L'Equipe have published their usual post-match player ratings out of 10 and somehow they've only given Henderson a five, Van Dijk a five and Milner a six.

Joe Gomez has also been awarded a five, which makes for strange reading considering PSG's centre-backs, Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe, both got sixes.

How does that work? Liverpool conceded one less goal than PSG and deservedly won the game 3-2, yet L'Equipe have rated PSG's centre-backs higher than or equal to most of their team.

Henderson's rating of 5/10 is particularly bizarre considering he bossed the midfield and dispossessed Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani on numerous occasions.

Klopp would certainly argue that his captain deserved a higher rating, especially judging by his impressive highlights from the game.

"It was clear that Hendo would come back and what a brilliant performance of him," said Klopp of Henderson. "Physical-wise so good.

"Obviously as we know that the players after the World Cup normally struggle a bit. He is ready now and that's really important for us."
