Over recent months, there's been a lot of speculation around WWE signing some of the best talents on the independent circuit.

The likes of Kenny Omega, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix have all been linked with joining Vince McMahon's company for the first time, while a number of other huge names may return too.

COMING HOME?

Cody, The Young Bucks and Chris Jericho have all been making waves outside WWE and fans have been desperate to see all four of those men return - but their futures are unclear right now.

Then, of course, there's Rey Mysterio.

There's been much more substance to rumours of his comeback, due to what he's already done in WWE this year.

In January, Rey made a surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble and three months later, he was involved in the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

On top of that, he's been announced as a playable pre-order character in WWE 2K19 and has been involved in the promotion for that game.

This week, there's been another big update on his next career move - and it's one that will really excite fans.

A NEW DEAL

According to PWInsider.com, per NoDQ, Mysterio has signed a two-year contract with WWE.

Finally, it looks like his return is set. Interestingly, PWInsider reports that he wanted just an 18-month contract but eventually agreed to one that's six-months longer.

In what appears to be a good compromise, he will be able to give the company notice of his desire to leave at that 18-month mark.

This is very exciting news, and the report suggests that once creative come up with a storyline for him, Mysterio will return to WWE TV.

At this moment, it's still unclear what brand "The Master of the 619" will be wrestling on - but other rumours suggest he'll be returning to SmackDown Live.

Whatever happens though, his comeback is sure to be exciting. Just imagine all those dream matches on either SD or RAW!
