Fans of Ferrari are used to the idea of having a German driver in the grid, with Michael Schumacher featuring for the Italian manufacturer between 1996 and 2006.

Furthermore, Sebastian Vettel then joined in 2015 to continue the German legacy within Italy.

Vettel, however, has revealed his admiration for Schumacher and has said that he would relish the opportunity to discuss Formula 1 life with him if it wasn't for his tragic skiing accident which left the former driver with substantial brain injuries.

"If he was healthy, I would ask him about many things.

"Not necessarily how to drive, but more things that are behind the scenes. Teamwork, Formula 1 politics. He has a lot of experience from his time with Ferrari," Vettel shared

However, regarding the 2018 season, former double world champion Mika Hakkinen believes that this won't be the year for Vettel and Ferrari, as he claims that they have already made too many mistakes.

"Everything is already decided.

"I have seen that Sebastian has said he wishes he had Michael Schumacher available to ask for advice, and I can understand why.

"Working very closely with the management and senior technical staff, Michael knew how to help get the most out of the Ferrari team. And it looks like Vettel has lost some faith in the team to provide him with the necessary support," the Finn shared.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes currently lead the way as 40 points now seperate the Brit and German on the driver's leaderboard.

Furthermore, it's a similar story on the constructors' leaderboard as Mercedes lead the charge whilst Ferrari occupy second.

In addition to this, it came as a shock to many that Ferrari were unable to secure the victory at the Italian Grand Prix as Mercedes took the top spot.

Nonetheless, Vettel and his team will need to win in Sochi at the end of the month to remain in contention of winning the title.
