Liverpool's James Milner has been one of the standout performers in the early stages of the 2018/19 season. The 32-year-old midfielder produced another excellent performance in Tuesday night's 3-2 win over PSG in the Champions League.Meanwhile, Paul Pogba was the best player on the pitch in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Young Boys on Wednesday night. The French midfielder won the World Cup this summer but has struggled to find consistency playing under Jose Mourinho. He pushed for a move to Barcelona in August but the Man United chiefs were unwilling to sell their prized asset.Graeme Souness, an avid critic of Pogba, was asked to choose between Man United's club-record signing and Liverpool's veteran midfielder.Milner, 32, joined the Reds on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015.“That’s easy,” Souness told Paddy Power, as per the Express. “It isn’t even a question.

"Milner, every day of the week. He’s a proper player.

“Who would I rather play against? Paul Pogba. I don’t want to play against Milner.

“But, with Pogba, it’s all about him and his game. He’s not going to stop me, he lets you play, and that’s one of the criticisms.

“Having the ball is only half of the game. A big part of being a top player, as he aspires to be, is you have to stop the guy you’re up against.

“And that’s part of the captaincy. If I’m having a good day, that means I’m stopping the guy I’m against directly.

“It’s not just about I’ll play and I’ll play, there’s another side to the game.

“You can’t pick and choose when you want to be bang at it.”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Souness's latest comments about Pogba caused quite a stir on social media.

It's fair to say Man United fans weren't too impressed by Souness's latest comments on Pogba.

But there were some Liverpool fans defending their former manager.

Upon selling Milner to Aston Villa in 2008, Souness claimed that “we’ll never win anything [at Newcastle] with a team of James Milners”.
