Earlier this week, it was reported that Rey Mysterio has signed a two-year deal to rejoin WWE.

He's been in talks to return for a while now, and speculation about his future had been rife since January.

SPORADIC APPEARANCES

Back then, "The Master of the 619" appeared as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble - and a couple of months later, he was at the Greatest Royal Rumble event as well.

His short cameos sparked suggestion that he'd be returning permanently early in 2018, but as the months rolled on, that became less and less likely.

That was perhaps mostly down to Mysterio's prior booking at ALL IN, and a number of other independent event dates that he wanted to fulfill.

Now though, everything looks set for him to return to WWE - and according to the latest reports, we know exactly when to expect to see him on TV - and even who he'll be wrestling.

THE BIG COMEBACK

Ringside News are reporting that WWE are "kicking around the idea" that Mysterio's first match back with the company will be at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia.

That would make sense, considering he got a good reception there in April and also, Vince McMahon is pulling out all the stops for November's event, and Rey is a huge draw.

But, more interesting than that, is who WWE are thinking about having him wrestle.

The same source suggests that Shinsuke Nakamura is the man Mysterio could face if he's used at the PPV.

That, for many fans, would be a real dream match.

FOR THE GOLD?

What's even more exciting, is that Nakamura currently holds the United States Championship - although there's no word yet on if their bout would be for the belt.

But it would be quite likely - and arguably, there's no better place than Saudi Arabia to crown a new champ - doing so there would be a very WWE decision.

For now, we'll have to sit tight and wait until something is officially announced - but things do look very exciting for Mysterio's return.
