Liverpool have enjoyed a phenomenal start to the season, winning their sixth consecutive game on Tuesday as they beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 at Anfield.

It's a run that has seen West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur also fail to get anything from Jurgen Klopp's side.

Despite the perfect start, however, there has been cause for concern among some fans over the form of Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian hasn't quite looked up to the incredibly high standards he set for himself last season, with the last three games passing without a Salah goal.

It's been his performances that have worried most, though; Salah has snatched at chances and generally looked as though he lacks the flow of last year.

Liverpool will certainly need their star to be back at his best if they're to challenge for honours this season and so you can understand the fans' concerns.

And there is enough concern that Klopp himself has decided to offer his own take on Salah's start to the season.

“On the defensive side the last two games were outstanding, perfect from him,” said Klopp, according to the official Liverpool website.

“It’s so important in these games especially, so that says everything about him, that he is really ready to work for the team in these moments and it’s a completely normal situation for an offensive player that you have times when you don’t score. But he is still a threat.

“He had fantastic offensive situations in both of the last games. He is in a good shape, actually, and then finishing is never something you can take for granted.

“At the end of the season we will see how it is, not at the beginning. So, the start was good for us as a team and for him as well.

“Was it already like he finished last season, the Premier League season especially? No, but he needed time last year, like we all needed time, and it will take time this year, that’s all.”

It's certainly true that Salah has worked hard defensively, and that he wasn't quite as sharp in front of goal at the start of last season as he was by the end - although he did manage three goals in first six games.

But if Klopp isn't worried, the fans needn't be either; Salah is clearly an elite player and he's almost certainly yet to play a pivotal role in the Reds' season.
