It's fair to say more than a few eyebrows were raised when Baron Corbin became the constable of Monday Night Raw.

Kurt Angle has been a hit ever since he returned to the company and became acting general manager the night after WrestleMania 33.

Nearly 18 months on and an illegitimate child storyline later, the WWE decided to give Corbin something fresh and new to sink his teeth into and he's been working closely with the former Olympic champion ever since.

Currently, the Lone Wolf is the acting general manager because Angle is on a leave of absence, but Corbin has excelled with more screen time.

Normally in these situations, the natural progression for the storyline would see a power struggle that results in a match.

Angle has sporadically returned to the ring since resigning with the WWE in 2017, but the 49-year-old insists he is training like he will wrestle again and is good-to-go.

So, will we get a bout with Corbin? That could do wonders for the former Money in the Bank winner's career, and he seems to think it's a matter of time.

GiveMeSport caught up with Corbin in Orlando at the Performance Center at an event for WWE 2K19 and we posed the question to him.

"I mean, we all know Kurt and he has been here a long time and he's done a lot of amazing things," Corbin said. "And I think him as a competitor, if I push his buttons enough, one of these times he's going to snap.

"I think it's one of those things where it will definitely happen. Knowing Kurt and knowing how frustrated he can get, and I can be quite the aggressor myself. It's one of those things where whether they [WWE] want it to happen or not, it may happen!"

It would be a fitting step in their on-screen rivalary and there's no denying that Corbin could use the tremendous rub of working with a legend like Angle, but are the WWE looking to go in that direction?

Corbin says it will "definitely happen" for what that's worth.

We spoke to Baron Corbin at a hands-on event of WWE 2K19 which will be released on October 9. Pre-order your copy right here.
