Liverpool made it six wins from six as they cruised past Southampton on Saturday afternoon. The Reds were the heavy favourites going into the game at Anfield and they lived up to that billing by defeating their opponents 3-0.They took the lead after just ten minutes courtesy of a Wesley Hoedt own-goal.Joel Matip then doubled their lead 11 minutes later when he headed home from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner. And Mo Salah made it three just before half-time. Xherdan Shaqiri was desperately unlucky as his free-kick cannoned off the underside of the bar, only for Salah to tap in from close range. There were no further goals in the second half as Liverpool cruised to victory. One player who Liverpool supporters were keeping a keen eye on was their summer signing, Shaqiri. The Swiss international had played just 27 minutes in the league prior to their game against Southampton. But he was given his chance to impress on Saturday as he was handed his first start in the league. And he made it count. He played a key part in both the first and third goals for his side.It could be argued that he was even the best player on the park. But, much to the surprise of Liverpool fans, Shaqiri was taken off at half-time against the lowly side. Many theories emerged as to why Jurgen Klopp decided to take him off, with many believing he may have picked up a knock. But that was not the case. The truth has now emerged and it seems Liverpool fans don't have too much to worry about.According to David Maddock of the Mirror, it was simply a tactical switch by Klopp. He writes: "Better news is Shaqiri not injured, just tactical from Klopp, who wanted more control in midfield 3, especially out wide defensively. Means he can now play Wednesday. #LFC"

In addition, by taking the 26-year-old off, Shaqiri is now fresh to take part in Liverpool's League Cup tie against Chelsea on Wednesday, where he is expected to take a prominent role.

It seems Liverpool supporters don't have too much to worry about.

Klopp's side have now opened up a two point gap at the top of the Premier League table, but Chelsea have the opportunity to go alongside them on 18 points if they are to defeat West Ham on Sunday.
