The Scottish Premiership table is looking very interesting right now.

Hearts lead the way through six matches after collecting 16 points and making an unbeaten start.

And in second place is Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, who have scored nine goals in their previous two outings.

It’s early in the campaign but it’s still surprising that Celtic do not occupy either of the top two positions.

They’re not even in the top five.

Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock on Sunday leaves them in sixth place, with 10 points.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have scored just six goals and do not resemble a team that is in cohesion right now.

Sutton is confused

Questions are being asked but Chris Sutton believes the club’s struggles boil down to their recruitment.

Not just in the summer, but in January.

“The recruitment in January was poor and so were some performances through the second half of the campaign,” Sutton told the Daily Record.

The signings of two players who haven’t seen much action has left Sutton confused.

“Marvin Compper was signed in January and hasn’t been sighted,” the former Celtic striker added.

“Daniel Arzani gets signed in the summer and isn’t even in the Europa League squad. I’m confused by it all.”

Celtic signed Compper in a £1 million deal from RB Leipzig in January but it’s quickly turning into an awful move.

The defender has played just 83 minutes of competitive football for Celtic.

Meanwhile, Daniel Arzani was signed in the summer on loan from Manchester City.

But, while there is a great deal of excitement surrounding the Australian, he hasn’t seen any first-team action yet.

Rodgers had to deliver a reality check to those expecting Arzani to make an instant impact by saying he needs time to build his fitness and confidence.

It’s all turning into a bit of a mess at Celtic Park.
