Everyone knows that making the grade at Chelsea as a youngster is extremely difficult. The west London club currently have 40 players out on-loan and don’t exactly have a very good track record when it comes to promoting academy graduates into their first-team.But Chelsea might have a player that is capable of doing just that.Mason Mount, 19, has been impressing under club legend Frank Lampard at Derby County this season. And he was given the perfect stage to show everyone exactly what he’s capable of in the Carabao Cup against Manchester United at Old Trafford. And he did just that.Despite United beating the Championship side 1-0, Mount looked the real deal in midfield for the visitors. And there was one moment in the first-half that had football fans talking.Just minutes after Juan Mata had put United ahead, Mount split the home side’s defence open with a sensational through ball to Mason Bennett. And it really should have led to a goal with Bennett shooting straight at Sergio Romero when he could and should have just squared it to Harry Wilson.

And fans on Twitter were seriously impressed with the vision of the youngster.

It was one moment of magic in a very accomplished performance from Mount, as the Chelsea loanee helped Derby knockout out United on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Earlier this month, Mason spoke about his decision to leave Chelsea to spend a season on-loan at Derby, under Lampard and Jody Morris.

“I think it was a no-brainer for me to go there and play. I didn’t want to spend another year playing at U-23 level when I had the chance to get out and play professionally in a top league and get as many minutes as I can,” he said.

“Frank has been brilliant. He has spoken to me a lot one-to-one before and after I signed. I'm always speaking to him and for me, being an attacking midfielder, I couldn't learn off anyone bigger or better than that. I always go into a game trying to get an assist and trying to get a goal, I want to influence games.

“I'm just taking as much as I can off him and Jody as well and learning as much as I can.”
