Tony Bellew has revealed the words he said to the undisputed cruiserweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk when the two faced off in Monday's press conference.

Bellew will challenge for Usyk’s WBC, WBA (super), WBO and IBF cruiserweight world championships on November 10, at the Manchester Arena.

Usyk will enter the ring as the firm favourite after taking his huge amateur reputation into the professional ranks but his opponent 'The Bomber' has never been one to shy away from a challenge.

In an interview with iFL TV, Bellew revealed he told Usyk he will have to knock him out in order to retain his belts in just over a month's time.

“I just told him: ‘I hope you know I will never ever quit’,” Bellew said.

“My body just won’t allow me to. I can’t show my face back home if I quit.

“I told him: ‘Good luck superstar’. He said: ‘I do not speak the best English’ and I told him: ‘You got the message.’ And that was that.

“Technically, he’s absolutely outstanding, he’s brilliant.

“According to the coach, yeah (I have to knock him out),” Bellew added. “I can’t outbox him, can I? According to half of the idiots on social media, I shouldn’t even be able to share the ring with him or lace his boots.

“I won’t stand there and go into my shell after three rounds and just put my hands on my ears like earmuffs. He’ll have to put me asleep before I do that.”

As Bellew prepares to take part in the first ever undisputed world championship fight to take place in Britain, the former WBC title-holder made a stern prediction for the outcome of the fight.

“Whatever happens, I’m going to win,” he said. “I am going to win. I am going to beat him, against all the odds.”
