As WWE fans know, Dean Ambrose suffered a very serious injury in December 2017 - and it was one that kept him out until August of this year.

"The Lunatic Fringe" required triceps surgery that sidelined him for nine months. But, thankfully, he's now back performing on RAW.

However, since his return, Dean has actually revealed that he had a number of complications, including a Staph infection - from which he nearly died.

WORSE THAN WE KNOW

That's a very, very scary revelation from the man himself - clearly, things were much worse than we all thought.

Now that Ambrose appears to be fully recovered, his wife Renee Young has been speaking about the ordeal - and she's explained just how frightening things got.

During a very open interview with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross on "The Jim Ross Report" - Renee recalled some details of Dean's medical scare.

OPENING UP

"Yeah, yeah, he did," Young replied when asked if Ambrose suffered complications from his triceps injury, per Wrestling Inc.

"He ended up having to go back in and having another surgery on his arm. He tore his tricep and went for surgery in December.

"And then, I remember him calling me New Year's Day, we had a show in Miami [Florida]. RAW was in Miami and his arm was bleeding everywhere.

"He woke up and there was blood all over the bed and he was so confused by what happened, not being able to fully get a look at what happened to his arm."

That sounds absolutely terrifying, but, as RAW's newest commentator explained, Ambrose dealt with the situation very well.

KEEPING CALM

"He kept bandaging it up to get it to reseal as quickly as possible - this opening that happened in his arm," Young continued.

"So he eventually had to go back to Birmingham [Alabama], which is where he had his surgery initially, just for a check-in, and that's when they realized his infection had escalated a lot. They had to go back in and clean it out."

It's very interesting to hear the ordeal that Dean went through - and Renee revealed that after that scare, things didn't get much better for a long time.

TAKING A TOLL

"He was on antibiotics for months! It was really scary, just knowing the severity," she explained.

"It was really tough to see somebody that you love go through something like that, especially somebody like Dean who is this indestructible force and to see him down and out with something like that, it was tough to go through."
