Klay Thompson will be a free agent next summer but for rival fans hoping to see the Golden State Warriors lose one of their key pieces, they're likely to be left disappointed. Like he has done for much of the offseason, the shooting guard has once again reiterated his desire to remain with the franchise for the rest of his career. The 28-year-old is determined to be a Warrior for life and says he's content with the position he's in. Having won three championships in four years, it comes as no surprise that Thompson isn't looking to move elsewhere as he believes he's in an enviable situation. "I think when guys go into free agency, they’re searching for a situation like mine or similar to our team," Thompson said, according to the Mercury News' Mark Medina. "So I’m perfectly content here."Just look around the walls and the artwork and see how I was a part of this buildup, it keeps you motivated and makes you want to be a Warrior my whole career."

Willing to sacrifice

The four-time All-Star can easily earn a max contract and be the best player on another team but he's willing to take a discount to remain in Oakland and not be the go-to guy.

The sharpshooter is very low maintenance and is not bothered by being the main man on a team as long as he's part of a successful outfit.

Thompson and the Dubs are a perfect fit and there isn't a realistic chance of him leaving in 2019.

Klay was eligible to sign an extension this summer but decided not to as he'll be able to negotiate a bigger deal next year.

He can sign a five-year deal worth approximately $188 million but if he's willing to accept less, it would ease the team's luxury tax bill and allow them to keep the likes of Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.

But at this stage, he says he's not concerned with the numbers and is only focused on winning a third consecutive title.

"I’m not sure, that’s why I have my agent (Greg Lawrence) who helps me with these things," Thompson said.

"He definitely gets his money’s worth during these times, but as long as I’m here in this Warriors uniform and I’m able to compete for championships, that’s what my sole focus is on … just try to win another championship and enjoy the ride along the way, because it goes by really fast as we all know."
