Eden Hazard has been on fire so far this season.

The Belgian winger has thrived under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri.

Despite starting the first few games of the campaign on the bench, Hazard has still managed six goals from his opening seven games.

His latest strike came in the Carabao Cup against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Picking up the ball on the left wing, Hazard slalomed his way past a number of Liverpool players before firing an unstoppable strike past Simon Mignolet.

Jamie Carragher was quick to sing his praises both during and after the game.

"I said on commentary that he is the best player in the Premier League," he said, per Sky Sports.

"It's not because he scored that goal, I believe it. I think he should have been named the best player of the World Cup also. He is an absolute superstar."

Hazard has emerged into one of the world's best players since making the move to Chelsea in 2012.

He started off his career in France with Lille, where he notched 50 times in 194 appearances.

Joe Cole played alongside Hazard when he was on loan at Lille for the 2011/12 season.

Peter Crouch has now recalled what Cole told him about Hazard just months into that campaign.

Crouch wrote in his column for the Daily Mail: "Joe Cole was excited when we spoke. It was the autumn of 2011 and he was on a season long-loan at Lille. There was something he'd said to me.

"'This kid,' he said, 'is the best player I have played with — ever. He's got the potential to be the best I have ever seen.'"

It turns out that Cole knew what he was talking about. Hazard is perhaps not the best he has ever seen yet, but his performances are starting to put him in the same bracket as even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jamie Carragher has also revealed what Cole said about Hazard after he made the move to Chelsea in 2012.

He wrote in his column for the Daily Telegraph: "I remember Joe Cole returning to Liverpool after a season on loan at Lille in 2011-12, raving about the young Belgian he was playing alongside.

"He was telling us his old club had signed the next superstar."

You certainly weren't wrong, Joe.
