Liverpool made a number of big signings this summer.

Naby Keita finally arrived from RB Leipzig, while Fabinho was signed by the club for £40 million from Monaco.

But their most important purchase of pre-season was undoubtedly Alisson Becker.

Jurgen Klopp was reported to be chasing the Brazilian goalkeeper for much of last season and he finally got his man in the summer.

The German manager broke the transfer record for a goalkeeper inorder to get his man, with Liverpool paying Roma £66.8 million for his services.

His performances so far suggest he is worth every penny. The 25-year-old has kept four clean sheets and conceded just two goals in his opening six Premier League games.

Alisson seems to have settled into life in England very quickly and he has recently been speaking to the media about his time so far.

The Brazilian goalkeeper revealed some interesting information about how Philippe Coutinho helped persuade him to join the club.

The two spoke before the World Cup this summer and Alisson has revealed exactly what his compatriot said about Liverpool.

“During the World Cup we were very focused on the tournament so we didn’t really speak about it but negotiations were ongoing at the time,” Alisson said, per the Liverpool Echo.

“I actually spoke to Coutinho before the World Cup as I knew there was interest from Liverpool. We talked about the way the club is set up, the structure and the staff.

“We also talked about the belief and the sort of family atmosphere at the club. It’s not just a football club, we are one big family.

“He spoke highly of Jurgen and he spoke about the players. He said there is no vanity in the squad but it’s a very ambitious squad with a strong desire to win. I saw that on the pitch.

“What Coutinho told me added to what I had already witnessed playing here at Anfield and then when I came and signed here it all came together and made sense."

Fair play to Coutinho, he didn't have to do that at all.

The Brazilian spent six seasons at Liverpool but left in bad terms earlier this year.

He went down in the estimation of a lot of Liverpool fans as a result, with many giving him criticism for his decision to leave for Barcelona.

Coutinho could have taken the opportunity to speak negatively about the club as a matter of revenge.

But he did not do so and actually talked up the club. Pure class from the 26-year-old.
