Many football fans may not recognise the name, Dale Jennings.

However, some of you might be aware of him due to his bizarre move from Tranmere to Bayern Munich in 2011.

Jennings was released from Liverpool at the age of 15 before he was snapped up by fellow Merseyside club Tranmere.

And he impressed immediately, eventually winning the League One Apprentice of the Year at the Football League Awards in 2011.

He had potential but nobody saw him completing a move to German giants Bayern Munich for £1.8 million that same year.

But his dream move turned into a bit of a nightmare.

A knee ligament injury ruled him out for a lengthy period, although he did play almost 40 times for Bayern’s reserve team.

Within two years, he was back in England with Barnsley where he stayed for two seasons.

But he was released in June 2015 and joined MK Dons. However, just one appearance later, Jennings was let go in February 2016.

He hasn’t had a club since.

That is until now.

Almost two-and-a-half years later, 25-year-old Jennings is looking to resurrect his football career by signing for Runcorn Town, in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

After making the signing, Runcorn Town manager Chris Herbert admitted it was a massive coup for his club.

"I don’t think I need to tell anyone how big of a signing this is for Runcorn Town Football Club, Dale is a top drawer player who was at the very highest level in European football," the boss said.

“He has lost his way somewhat but I have met with Dale and one thing I can tell is that he is desperate to resurrect his career. He is still desperate to get back in the Football League, and it is my job to get him there by getting him to perform for us.”

It must be tough to take for Jennings to go from Liverpool to Bayern Munich to Runcorn. While he's may have found a new club, it's a reminder just how far he's fallen.

But at least he’s attempting he restart his career and, hopefully, he can return to the football league.
